UK tournament pro Sam Grafton has won the PokerStars Festival Main Event in Bucharest, Romania for over €117,000 payday.
Grafton managed to top a field of 736 players in the €1,100 buy-in Main Event and earned €117,707 for his win after making a deal with Anil Ozdemir in the heads-up play. The win takes Grafton’s total live tournament earnings to around $900,000. However, the UK pro has had even better results in the online world and his total online tournament winnings are almost $5 million.
According to the post-win interview, Grafton has been playing the EPT and the new PokerStars events for six years now and he was extremely happy to win a one finally.
“I’ve been playing PokerStars events for a long time, trying to win one for around six years. To finally win one feels amazing. Back then, I didn’t really realise what it takes to win a tournament, how rare it can be in your career. In the past, I didn’t value the runs I made, but now I know how difficult it is to win a live tournament. It feels amazing,” Grafton said.
