Preben Stokkan Wins 2017 Caribbean Poker Party High Roller for $275,000

Norwegian poker pro Preben Stokkan has taken down the first title of the 2017 partypoker LIVE Caribbean Poker Party MILLIONS festival in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Stokkan beat a 103-player field including many of poker’s elite to win the $10,300 High Roller event. The Norwegian poker pro received $275,000 for his win, which is his poker career’s biggest live cash so far. In total, Stokkan has now around $800,000 in live tournament earnings.

The final table featured many accomplished poker players like Sean “Nolez7” Winter, Steffen Sontheimer, Kenny Hallaert and Sam Greenwood. In the heads-up play, Stokkan faced former WPT Player of the Year and poker author Jonathan Little.

Little lost the heads-up and the title after he called Stokkan’s all-in shove with pocket threes. Stokkan had , and while Little made a set of threes, Stokkan ended up making a straight to take down the title and $275,000 first-place prize.

Also currently running in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic are the $25,500 Super High Roller event and the $5,300 Main Event. The whole festival features $10,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools spread across events running from November 19 – 25.
