The 2017 World Series of Poker couldn’t have started better for poker couple Igor Kurganov and Liv Boeree as they took down the first open event of the series early today.
Kurganov and Boeree emerged victorious in event #2: $10,000 buy-in Tag Team Championship, which was a team event. That meant players in each team could tag in a teammate anytime he/she was not in an active hand.
Just over 100 teams took part in this peculiar tournament, including the legendary American swimmer Michael Phelps, who played in the same team with Antonio Esfandiari, Brian “tsarrast” Rast and Jeff Gross.

In addition to Boeree and Kurganov, the final table featured Daniel Negreanu and his team, who finished 3rd for almost $120K. However, Negreanu must be somewhat dissapointed with the 3rd place as he is aiming to win a total of three bracelets this summer.
